It was an eccentrically run event to say the least, one which had probably had its day. There are now several web and small press-led events in the capital every year - MCM Expo has a large comics village, there are numerous alternative press fairs, and there is ComICA twice a year. THE UK Thing had a legitimacy born of being first to the punch but had stagnated badly in the last two years. The profligacy of the US convention scene is down to population and geography more than anything. I think most of my friends there agree that there are now too many shows and trying to exhibit at too many of them will drive you insane, It was probably time for the UK Thing to go.
