So here it is – my 1st cartoon. A cheesy pun. Well, start as you mean to go on, I say. Welcome to the world of DJ Bogtrotter. I thought of this joke years ago (I believe I was in an open top car with my friends Vic & Steve) and thought it’d be nice to kick everything off with this one.
There are quite a few Jesus as zombie cartoons on the net and I thought I’d add another one. This one has had quite a good reaction so far (it has already featured on my Facebook account), but I get the feeling that my mum & dad aren’t going to like it too much.
This is the first all new cartoon for the website (the others have been previewed on my Facebook account). Bit of a rush job I’m afraid, but I’m determined to post every week, so I’m going to have to get ahead of myself, if I want to spend more time on the artwork. It’s also the 1st I’ve drawn completely on the computer with my Bamboo pad (thanks Craig). I think that shows too, but I hope to improve my techniques & what not (check out that guy’s hair – he looks like Blackadder – the 1st really goofy one). Anyway, it’s up & now that I’ve got a whole 3 cartoons online, I’m going to start telling everyone about the site.

Another one upgraded from my Facebook posts. I’ve decided to show off my self-taught Photoshop skills. All rather basic, but I hope you get the point. (Photoshop is one of those things I’m going to get good at when I’ve got the time – like learning an instrument or foreign language).

This one’s actually based on what happened when I left London Electricity. After several phonecalls & letters asking me to stay, I rang them again to let them know I was definitely moving my account & asked them not to contact me again. A couple a days later, yet another letter arrived with a form asking me to detail the reasons why I was leaving & asking me to reconsider. I scrawled the words “I’VE HAD PSYCHO EX-GIRLFRIENDS WHO WERE EASIER TO GET RID OF THAN YOU LOT” & returned it.
Also, I’ve tweaked the site a bit. You can now vote on the cartoons – woohoo. Don’t know if I’ll keep it – it looks a bit gimmicky. But we’ll see – if I get some idea of what cartoons are more popular, I’ll try to more in that vein. I’ve tweaked how you can share the site (with Stumbleupon, Digg etc). And (drumroll please) you can now follow me on Twitter (yes, my life is that interesting).

No actual drawing in this one, so I don’t know if it officially qualifies as a cartoon. Anyone who browses the internet regularly knows that it is littered with these things – so I’ve constructed one of my own in the hope of limiting their future dispersal (I’m not optimistic).

I was thinking about the Belcerebons of Kakrafoon Kappa from Douglas Adams’ “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” (as you do). According to wikipedia “Once a serene and quiet civilization, a Galactic Tribunal sentenced them to telepathy because the rest of the galaxy found peaceful contemplation contemptuous. Ford Prefect compared them to Humans because the only way Belcerebons could stop transmitting their every thought was to mask their brain activity (or its readability) by talking endlessly about utter trivia.” – sound familiar? The internet can be a powerful tool, but an equally powerful distraction and with social websites profligating exponentially, the process that involves checking on them all could evolve in to a Dante-like eternal loop.

Wow, what a crazy week. First I get a plug from channelATE (cheers Ryan) and then my cartoon The Undead, after a bit of success with Stumbleupon, got picked up by Reddit too and ended up at No.2 on Reddit’s comics page, just behind Wonderwark – gah! Now I know how Ultravox felt about Joe Dolce (nice 80s reference there for my UK readers). It peaked on Wednesday when I got over 16,000 hits and it lead to some lively discussion, as you can see from my comments page & it’s Reddit comments page. I know it’s probably not cool to go on about your own cartoon’s success, but I’m very new to all this and found it very exciting. I seem to have picked up a few more sunscribers too, so “hello there & welcome” if you’re new, hope you like the place. It’s nice to get some attention, but I’m kinda hoping things calm down a bit this week & I don’t foresee today’s cartoon causing too much controversy. It’s yet another one that I’ve redrawn from my Facebook page (I’m running out of those & will have to start thinking up some new ideas soon). I really must practice drawing women – even from the back, she looks like a fella with a wig on.

Hey, another “Hitchhiker’s Guide” influenced cartoon (see the previous one here). This is Marvin as portrayed in the original BBC TV series. There is an alternative version here for my international audience (Doesn’t the movie version look a bit like the Mighty Muggs Stormtrooper?) So, the last of my redrawn cartoons from my Facebook account. It’ll be brand new cartoons for everybody from here on in (as long I can keep thinking stuff up). With regards to this cartoon, it didn’t feel so long ago that I was firmly in panel 1, but I can now see panel 2 looming on the horizon.
