So, back with another religious/zombie cartoon (see here), but hopefully a little less controversial this time. One of these days, I’ve going to give myself enough time to draw a decent background (I promise).

I do feel a bit guilty slagging off this particular word as some of you have been kind enough to use it to describe some of my other cartoons. However, it’s overused (and yes, I know that most of the time a certain amount of irony is involved) and it’s time to move on. English is a vast and varied language so let’s get creative with our compliments – I’ll start. I say, you are looking resplendent today, are you planning to get stotious this weekend? That would be eellogofusciouhipoppokunurious.
Some of you might not waste quite as much time as I do idly surfing the internet and may not be aware of this annoying meme. Basically, there are people still think it’s hilarious to write “Shopped!” underneath a picture (any picture) regardless of how likely that it has actually been photoshopped or not. These people also think it’s still funny to shout “Freebird” at concerts. I’ll admit that the first couple of times I came across “Shopped!”, I giggled at the sheer ridiculousness of it, but its brief window of funniness is long gone. Now, I just observe the trampled mess it has become and think to myself “This used to be a joke?” And the people who type it are exposing themselves as drooling sheep who are incapable of any original thought. Probably a slight overreaction to what is, after all, just a feeble attempt at humour, but, like I said, I spend far too much time idly surfing and should do something a little more constructive with my time (which reminds me, those doilies aren’t going to crochet themselves).
P.S. I’ve agreed to do a guest comic for the ever-so-slightly-off-its-rocker y2cl . It should appear in July and I’m very excited about doing my first ever guest comic (but basically I was just too scared to say no to this man).
P.P.S. People who type “First!” can piss right off’n'all.
Hey, another multi-panel cartoon. I must have too much spare time on my hands. Looking back over my cartoons, I can definitely see the influence of other webcomics I read. I think this one has a touch of Buttersafe about it. I don’t know why I’m pointing this out, as it’s only going to make my stuff look bad by comparison, but you should check it out anyway.
I’ve been busy this week. Managed to update my blog (finally) – see below. Did a guest cartoon for y2cl which will appear sometime in July and then did another one for CockNBull which you can see here.
Also, just a quick reminder that, if you like the comic, please click on the votey buttons in the right hand side menubar – Cheers!

I enjoyed writing this character so much, that I’ve given him his own webcomic. You can see it here: http://miltonslife.com/

Having been inspired by some long form webcomics which are less joke orientated, I thought I’d have a go myself. Examples include Bellen (beautiful colours), Achewood (faultless prose), Renrut’s World (great personal stories) and Pictures for Sad Children (deceptively simple) – I suggest you check them out. Give them time though, they’re growers. Oh, and I pretty much nicked the colour scheme from this excellent comic from Sorry Comics. I did a bit of crowdsourcing on Twitter to help name my character (well, ok, it was more small group sourcing), so thanks again to @MeeJong for coming up with ‘Milton’.
Also, don’t forget to check out my guest comic at y2cl – it’s here (but don’t click if you’re a Michael Jackson fan – seriously, don’t).
And finally, I seemed to have climbed the ranks of the webcomic listing sites I’m in, so thanks if you took the time to click on the votey button in the sidebar. I really appreciate it.
I’m feeling a bit better and realised that as long as I update sometime on Friday, I won’t officially have missed my deadline, I’ll just have posted very late (Hey, Zach Weiner does it all the time). Last week’s cartoon about Milton got such a great response that I’m thinking about giving him his own strip. Usually, if I’m feeling prolific, I have maybe 2-3 half-decent cartoon ideas in a week, but since I wrote Milton, I’ve had about 15-20 more ideas. He has obviously triggered something in my head and is a character that I’m very keen to develope. However, I just don’t have the time at the minute to start drawing two strips. I don’t want to abandon DJBogtrotter and I want to do Milton properly, so they’ll be no rushing it. My plan is to simplify my approach to DJBogtrotter (hence no colour) to give me some time to plan the Milton strip. I’m even going to try to build that mythical grail of the webcomic – a buffer (I’ve heard they exist, but I’ve never seen one myself). After the summer I should have a bit more free time and hope to launch a Milton website in 3-6 months.
My webcomic recommendation for this week is Cat and Girl – here’s one that covers similar ground to this week’s cartoon.
And finally, DJBogtrotter is now 6 months old, so happy 1/2th birthday to me.
Ah, the joys of ctrl C & ctrl V. Where would any lazy webcomc artist be without them?
Want to hear me rambling on incoherently for half an hour or so? Well, you could ring me up and hope that I’m drunk – you’ll get a good diatribe about how people spend their time looking for continuity errors are sad pathetic losers. Alternatively you can listen to me pop my podcast cherry on episode 15 of y2cl radio.
My webcomic pick for this week is Anders Loves Maria – you need to dig through the archives to get into it, but it’s beautifully drawn & written.
Finally Vistaprint were kind enough to sponsor a link in my The Undead – A Spotter’s Guide cartoon. Check it out.
Webcomic pick for this week is this little gem that I stumbled across recently – The Purple Gerbil. That is all.
I think all things can be reduced to either sex or death and I’m finding that these days I’m thinking more abouth the latter than the former. So, expect more death jokes.
The webcomic you should check out this week is Big Fat Whale
